BOM'n the sewing room

This is a picture of a block of the month quilt called 'Civil War Tribute' done by Homestead Hearth for Marcus Fabrics. I have been helping B and B quilting with the shop sample on this, and boy, oh boy is it something. I did the toughest blocks first (which is the norm for me). I figure that if I can get through the tough ones, the rest of them will be a breeze...and I was right. these other blocks that only have 50 pieces are much easier than the ones that have 99. I don't know where my brain was when I decided to sign up for the BOM. That means that I will be making many of these blocks twice! (or I could stick them in the box and pull them out after I have completely lost my mind...it will be new and exciting in 20 years!)

Peking up Projects

Now, y'all look here. I made this quilt top a few months back for B & B quilting in Buda, TX using the pattern ''Peking Kids''. I did the applique paper lamp border by machine. Very cute, very fast. They have kits of this available (512) 312-2299. Blank Textiles made the fabric. I am more of a reproduction fabric kinda gal, but this one sneaked into my brain somehow.

I went to my block exchange group tonight to find that I have been put in charge of the next swap. Maybe if my next set of blocks are sent in reeking of vodka, they will pass over me the next few times. Not a bad idea! Sounds like a win-win to me. Ha.ha. Nah, I really love it. It makes me feel like I am needed, wanted, and loved (when really, no one else wants to do it)

I am off to bed early tonight now! (12:44am)

Secret Agent Woman

Yesterday, I was ribbing Pat Sloan on facebook about her amazing ability to complete projects, write books, do a radio show, blog, and do facebook. I found out how she really does it, but you have to go to her blog to find out....http://patsloan.typepad.com/

Doh!

I went to Barnes and Noble today to get away from the other people that I live with for just a few hours. They drive me CRAZY sometimes. (I love you anyway, kiddos) I limited myself to purchasing only two things. I bought Connor a stuffed mouse since we finished reading Stewart Little today; and I chose a book for myself titled Fabric Dyer's Dictionary by Linda Johansen. Pretty cool book because it has recipes for all of the major colors that you can achieve and it tells you how to dye your own fabric in simple terms/instructions. Just what I need. I didn't realize it until I got home that I couldn't possibly buy the dyes to keep in my house until the kids are in college...and you all know why.
